Common Lore

Common Lore

‘ Common Lore’
A Stute Theatre production in association with Northern Broadsides Commissioned by Spot On Lancashire

“It’s hard being young round here. Looking for a break. Trying to make money. Wanting just to take my stake in the place that I live.”

Meet Scarlet, waiting for the bus… again. On the way to visit her Nan, she reinvents the childhood stories she knows so well, and finally discovers her future path, in her own unique way. This award winning show is an inventive, fast-paced fusion of theatre, spoken word, projections and live electronic music, performed by one young woman (and her mobile phone)! Fairy Tales and modern life collide in this exciting new show, suitable for young people aged 11+ and Adults.

’Common Lore’ won ‘Breakthrough Performance of the Year’ at the 2019 Rural Touring Awards and was nominated for ‘Collaboration of the Year’ at the 2018 Rural Touring awards. It was commissioned by Spot On Lancashire and created from a series of creative workshops with young adults in libraries across Lancashire.

The 2020 Spring Tour of ‘Common Lore’ was been reimagined as an online project.

Schools, youth theatres and groups were given access to a full live stream of this award winning show, alongside a huge range of of digital educational resources for young people.

We also created a brand new series of Creative Citizens resources to help young people use their creative skills to improve their own wellbeing and make a positive difference.
